Former Weirton, W.Va., police officer Stephen Mader is taking legal action after being dismissed for not shooting a suicidal man armed with a gun. 'I tried to deescalate the situation. I was just doing my job.' Last year, Mader was called to a home where a man — Ronald J. Williams — was threatening to kill himself. According to Mader, Williams was holding a gun and saying repeatedly, "Just shoot me." Mader refused, and instead tried to calm the man down.
